The muhurat ceremony of the film Blockbuster, which revolves around a gang of underworld gangsters who spread violence in the capital, engage in drugs and other illegal activities and terrorize the common people, and an Assistant Superintendent of Police who vows to eradicate violence and uphold the law, was held at the Colombo Foundation Institute recently.
The film Blockbuster is directed by Sripali Hettiarachchi, who brought the film Sujatha Putra to the screen. Veteran actors Ravindra Randeniya, Lucky Dias, Amila Karunanayake, Indian actress Ritika Gulati, Kumara Ranapura are among the actors who will be playing the lead roles in this film. Other actors who will be playing the lead roles in this film are Shirani Kaushalya, Diana K. Hettiarachchi, Srimali Fonseka, D.B. Gangodathenna, Shenaya Daniel and others.
The cinematography is by Nirmal Rajapaksa, the assistant director is Tharindu Ilankoon and the production management is by Ashoka Jayawardena. The director of notes is Kumara Ranapura. Sujith Lakmal Weerasinghe is the art director and two popular singers of the country, Bhathiya Jayakody and Santhush Weeraman, are involved in the blockbuster film as music directors. This film, which is a DreamWorks Media Solutions presentation, is a production of LMN Holdings.
Participating in the Muhurat ceremony, the film's director Sripali Hettiarachchi said that this is a new action film with a completely different theme from the films he has produced so far and that it will be one of the newest in Sri Lankan films. He also said that a large number of models and artists representing the modeling industry have been planned for this film.
It is also reported to Sirasa Gossip that the shooting is scheduled to begin in the second week of September. The film's director Sripali Hettiarachchi also said during the Muhurat ceremony that the audience will be able to see this film within the next 6 months.
