Modeling is not yet a passion - but she likes photo shoots - acting is what she likes the most

This is an article based on an interview conducted by Sirasa Gossip with Gayathri Kanchanamali, a newcomer to the modeling and acting fields.

Let's see who you are?

My name is Gayathri Kanchanamali. My birthday is February 28th. I live in Ragama and went to school at Kadawatha Vidyaloka Maha Vidyalaya. My family consists of a mother, father and sister.

Was it a dream of mine to enter this field since I was a child?

I had a desire since I was a child. During my school days, our school did not have drama and theater... But I studied privately. But I had to stop it halfway. Because I was influenced that advertising was better than modeling. After stopping that, I turned back to drama and theater and it has been about three months now.

Do you think I will turn to modeling?

No, I don't. I hope to study a little more and then turn to that direction.

I would like to know who helped me.

My family... Mom and Dad... and my younger brother... Ranjith, they have been very supportive of me. At first I got work. But I didn't come. I got things like visuals and commercials, but I didn't come. After that, I came back to the industry about three months ago. First, I did a photo shoot with a brother named Indika. After that, there were many photo shoots. And I have to say that recently I did a photo shoot with Imesh Nuwandaka. After that, I got a lot of acting opportunities. I got a lot of opportunities for films and teledramas. I hope to participate in them. In addition, I am going to Mahendra sir's acting school.

Do you think that it is enough to not be a fashion model and just do acting?

I don't want to be a professional model anyway. Because I have no desire for modeling. But I have always had a desire to do photo shoots. Because I do this not as a profession but as a passion. Because I do this not as a job and do it for money.

Do you work?

No.. I don't work. I initially worked in a salon. And I learned about salon work. But I have stopped doing that for a while now. Because I need to learn a little more. In addition, I am also learning about drama.

If you mention the obstacles?

There are no obstacles at home. But some people in the industry do hinder me. But I overcome those obstacles and move forward.

What do you think about the distance I have come in the acting field... If you talk about the contributions I have made...

I am really happy with the distance I have come. I am happy with the opportunities I have received as a newcomer in such a short period of time. Also, I have acted in several teledramas. Especially in Cineart. I have also acted in three other teledramas. But I haven't had a chance to play the lead role yet. After Imesh Nuwandaka's photo shoot, I got invited to a few films. They are scheduled to be recorded next month. If they are, I will play the lead roles.

Can you become a model just by doing two or three photo shoots?

I don't think I have much experience in the field to answer that question. But that doesn't suit those who do modeling. You need to know your place... how did I come here, where am I going... you need to know what it is. And you definitely need to do some research. There needs to be some learning and studying about the field. And so, it's something that those guys have to make up their minds about.

One accusation that comes up is that you're going to become famous by being half-naked... have you received any such accusations?

Mmm... I haven't received any such accusations yet.

What kind of decision would you make if you were asked to do a nude scene or a photo shoot like that?

You definitely make a choice. I haven't done anything like that yet. I definitely care about the clothes. I think about that and decide whether to do such a thing.

Haven't you received any inappropriate suggestions when you go to acting?

Um... I've received enough of them. If you like them, you even get the main roles.

How is the support you get in acting?

Actually, when you go to the stage, everyone there helps. You can't say it's just one person. Everyone helps.

What was your first acting role?

First, you acted in a teledrama on Cineart. So far, you have acted in three teledramas.

What is your opinion about social services done through social networking sites?

I think most of them are people who work for their own benefit. They try to grow by doing something for others. I think there are more people like that now. I have met people like that. But I haven't been caught yet.

What do you think about the new change on the Sirasagossip website?

It's really valuable for new people like us. A big chance. Because you don't get a chance like this. Also, you talk very friendly. Because I have worked with other people before. That's why I understand the difference. I have to say it's a big chance.
