Shall we start by telling you a little about yourself? Name, village, age and hobbies.

I am Isuru Gilshan Abeykoon. Birthplace Baddegama. Now I live in Nugegoda. There is no problem in not mentioning my age. Currently working at Britannia. These days, I balance work, modeling, and acting. I do everything as a hobby. There is nothing special.

Did you have a dream since childhood to join the modeling industry?

No. I never had any dreams or desires. I have been very interested in athletics and cricket since childhood. I tried to move forward in that direction. I came to modeling by chance. I came to modeling in 2011. But I am not someone who just goes there because I get an opportunity. You don't want to hold a gem in your hands just because you find it. Even a gem becomes more valuable when it is polished. That is why I have received formal education in both these fields and am on my way.

Who helped me move forward as a model?

Here is how it is, even though I am going on this journey alone now, there are people who have paved the way for me. It is because of them that I am here today. Especially because of my family including my mother and father. Also, there are many other people who helped me like Asitha Kumara, Asiri Upendra Aiya, Shashika Prasadi, Prasad Hewagama Sir, Imesh Nuwandaka, Prasanna Priyadarshana, Chagi Akka, Samudra Sitruwan. I have forgotten to mention names. I want to apologize for that. I want to remember everyone who did my shoot and everyone who was strong with a word. I want to remember my friends at Baddegama Ga/Kristudeva Men's College and everyone who is with me on Facebook and other sides. It is because of them that I am here today.

What are your limitations when modeling?

Here's how it is when you become a model, you should be able to showcase a designer's design. But that rarely happens in Sri Lanka. Because Sri Lanka's culture is number 1. So I like to work by knowing the limits you can go.

What are you looking forward to doing in the future?

The only hope in terms of acting and modeling is to make all the creations you receive successful. I have planned to learn a little more about modeling and acting and create in a different way.

What can I say about modeling in Sri Lanka?

At present, there are many good creations and very talented models in Sri Lanka. But the problem is that everyone who does photoshoots is called a model. Some people call a photographer after buying a new dress and take a few photos and say that they are a model. After that, professional models also fall into their same situation. Because ordinary people think that all these models are the same. Also, there is no acceptance of modeling in Sri Lanka. At least, there is no one to sponsor someone who represents Sri Lanka and goes to a pageant. In other countries, their governments support such people. But that does not happen in Sri Lanka. In other countries, there are academies to learn acting and modeling from a young age. When children are exposed to it from a young age, they become talented when they grow up. People talk about female models based on their appearance. Similarly, some people say that male models are Play Boys. People also look at models in a very ugly way, saying, "Isn't she modeling?" Today, people in Sri Lanka do it for fun. Also, many people do modeling just to become popular and take some photos and post them on Facebook. Everyone who looks is modeling now in Sri Lanka. I would say that just as you can't get a doctor by looking at a doctor, modeling is not something you can do by looking at a doctor. It is something that needs to be learned and done properly.

What do you think about the distance you have come...

The road is short, the way to go is long. The number of creations I have done in the past 6 years is very small. I don't want to appear in the creations that you see. Even if I make a creation that people remember, it is worth a lot to me. But I have to work a little more in 2017.

What is the thing I hate most in acting/fashion modeling?

The first thing is that I hate people who do not support their fellow artists when a creation is being made. Because no matter how experienced or new they are, they should support their fellow artists. The other thing is that there are people who come forward without that talent, holding the torch for Directors, Producers, Photographers, right? That is the other invisible race.
